Dressing for the Part: ELLAvate your look for the Job Interview

Dressing for the Part: ELLAvate your look for the Job Interview

The impact of our attire can’t be overstated when it comes to making a positive first impression. And never has the right first impression been more important than a job interview. The key is all about being understated.  Before we even answer the first interview question, we have already communicated volumes about our confidence, ability to be detail oriented, that we care about our appearance and take pride in doing a good job.

Your outfit choice not only takes center stage but is the easiest way to make a winning first impression.  Your ensemble needs to be well fitted, clean, pressed, and we’ll suited for the environment.  We recently showcased professional looks on Fox 45 Morning News. Check out the link here and read on for more tips.

Colors:

The most job interview friendly hues are blues, greens, browns and other muted tones.  Solid colors reign. Skip the bold and wild patterns. Save the zebra,  snake or leopard prints for later! We are the first ones to love an animal print, but there is a time and a place for that and your job interview is likely not it.

Style:

Lean toward a  conservative style, such as a jacket or blazer over a blouse or modest camisole. For the bottom, consider a pencil skirt that hits at the knee or just below or a pair of well fitted slacks.  Choose a style that skims your figure and avoid a skin-tight, overly baggy or capri silhouette.

Simple styled dresses are also appropriate with a conservative neckline and mid length. Avoid cocktail or party dresses and overdoing accessories.  When you’re feeling comfortable and you’re confident, you’re able to focus on the interview and engage better with your perspective employer, making a better chance at a successful outcome.

And of course, the best way to ensure you’re perfectly suited for the job is to have a custom suit or a custom wardrobe made. It takes all the stress out of what to wear.

For 25 years, I have watched women experience a positive change in confidence and self-image.   Time after time, we hear from our customers how much our designs have changed their lives. If you’re looking for a gift for a college graduate, for someone reentering the work force, or ELLAvate your own look ,  check out our custom wardrobe packages. We are conveniently located in Timonium, Maryland. Visit ellapritsker.com to learn more.
